Yankton manager reports sales‑tax dip, event schedule and election timeline planning

City Manager Amy Leon delivered the manager’s report on July 28, telling the commission that June sales tax receipts fell 2.55% and that cumulative receipts for the year are down 0.25%.

So we are taking that into account and making some adjustments to the budget,” Leon said.
Leon also noted outreach from the Yankton Volunteer Fire Department about a legitimate community fundraising effort, updated the commission on summer events (the party at Riverside was postponed and National Night Out is scheduled for Aug. 5) and referenced a recent mass at Mount Marty’s Bishop Chapel led by Bishop Kettler of Sioux Falls. She said staff is preparing a memo laying out timelines and implications for holding the city election in June versus November and will consult with the school and county before returning the item to the commission.
