"Today marks 6 months since I took office," Lurie said. He told the board the administration is "on track to close an $800,000,000 budget deficit while investing in our recovery, strengthening public safety staffing, taking bold action to address our homelessness and behavioral health crisis, and advancing legislation to streamline permitting and build more housing." He thanked supervisors for collaboration on budget and legislative priorities.
Lurie cited several partnerships with supervisors on district projects and legislation, including measures to renew "first year free" small‑business assistance and work on district infrastructure such as a proposed fire station and housing contributions tied to a development project. He said the administration and board are working on an RV encampment plan to provide options for people living in RVs and that the mayor’s office is coordinating permitting reforms to speed housing and small business projects.
The mayor concluded by urging continued cooperation between the mayor’s office and the board as the city finalizes the budget and implements policy priorities. The remarks were an informational appearance under the board’s special order and did not include a board action beyond the scheduled recognition.
