Town Manager Elizabeth Mascaro submitted written notice that she will not seek contract renewal and will serve a 60-day notice, the commission said during the July 16 meeting.
The commission reviewed two proposals received in response to a request for qualifications for executive-search services. Town counsel advised the commission the RFP allowed the town to request additional information or oral presentations from any respondents.
Commissioners scheduled a special meeting for Monday, Aug. 4 at 5 p.m. so both firms could present orally; staff will contact the firms to confirm whether they will appear in person or via Zoom. Commissioners also discussed an alternative senior-adviser program offered by a state group that provides transition support for municipalities at no service cost but with possible additional town staff time for administration. Town counsel said the senior-adviser program is an available option and clarified the difference in responsibilities between retained executive-search firms (handle advertising, screening, background checks, and candidate management) and a senior-adviser assistance program (consultative support with more town staff involvement).
No firm was awarded a contract at the July 16 meeting. The commission set the special meeting so members can hear presentations and decide whether to award an executive-search contract or pursue an alternative approach.
