Melbourne Beach names Technology Advisory Board members; commission approves five members and an alternate

The Melbourne Beach Town Commission on July 16 confirmed appointments to a newly created Technology Advisory Board, voting to approve five members and at least one alternate.
The commission appointed Jennifer Lerbold, Steven Rodrigo, Mark Lauer and two others to the board; it also confirmed Gail Gowdy as the first alternate. Each appointment was moved and voted on separately; the votes recorded in the minutes carried unanimously.
Candidates who addressed the commission described professional backgrounds in cybersecurity, cloud migration and enterprise information technology. Jennifer Lerbold identified herself as a data engineer with cloud and cybersecurity certifications and said she would help with data-management and cloud migration tasks. Steven Rodrigo and another applicant described federal cybersecurity and intelligence-community experience. Mark Lauer said he brings experience with deploying technology and matching solutions to municipal needs.
The new board will elect officers at its first meeting; town staff said the town clerk will contact board members to schedule that initial meeting. The commission asked that the boards first tasks include reviewing an initial list of priorities such as short-term recommendations for the towns website, records and cyber hygiene policies.
The appointees will serve under the advisory board charter adopted earlier by the commission; the commission retains final authority to modify policy and budgets tied to board recommendations.
