Lombard trustees advance Burridge Plaza rezoning to second reading; consent agenda approved

Lombard trustees voted to approve on first reading zoning entitlements for a redevelopment of properties at 505 and 515 West Roosevelt Road and 1210 South Findlay Road — the project the developer calls Burridge Plaza — and moved the matter to a second reading scheduled for Aug. 21.

The Board of Trustees also approved its consent agenda, which included multiple payroll and accounts-payable items and a recommendation from the Economic and Community Development Committee to award a retail business grant to Soapy Roads of Lombard.

The zoning request before trustees covers phase 3 of the multi-phase redevelopment of the former Dania store and adjacent parcels. The package approved on first reading includes a new planned development with companion conditional uses and deviations: conditional uses for outdoor display of goods, a restaurant that includes entertainment/dancing (a banquet facility), allowing more than one building on a lot of record to permit two new outlot buildings, signage deviations, a parking deviation to allow 688 parking spaces where a strict per-tenant calculation would total 775, and a variance for sidewalk alignment on South Findlay Road because of right-of-way and grade constraints.
