Four new T-hangars under construction under land leases; developer Full Fab building units

Airport staff and commissioners discussed construction of four new T-hangars at the airport that are being built by Full Fab and will match the appearance of existing hangars at Airspace Place.

Staff said concrete has been poured and metal and insulation were being installed on the north end; photos shared with the commission were approximately a week old. The four units are being constructed under land leases with the city; four individuals are building and will occupy one aircraft space each. Staff said the units will be identical to Airspace Place hangars and will be the same color.

Commissioners asked whether more hangars could be added adjacent to the new row. Staff said expansion is possible but would require utility and road modifications and earlier internal studies suggested roughly $120,000 per unit in one scenario; splitting into a smaller four-unit project made investment easier but utilities and roadway work can be costly. Staff encouraged interested parties to approach the city about additional hangar construction.
