College Station ISD introduces new central-office instructional hires and recognizes extended-school-year students

At the July 15 meeting the College Station Independent School District recognized students who attended the district's Extended School Year (ESY) program and introduced three new hires in teaching and learning.

Traci Medlock, ESY elementary coordinator, introduced ESY students Terrence Alexander and Trenton Jefferson (Creekview Elementary) and Prince Hawkins (Pepper Creek Elementary). Margaret Michael, ESY secondary coordinator, introduced Jeremiah Bell. The board recognized artwork by ESY students displayed in the boardroom.

District leaders introduced three new staff members for the Teaching and Learning department. Jennifer Wood is the district's new director of federal and state programs; staff said she has more than 20 years of experience, a bachelor's degree in agricultural economics from Texas A&M University and a master's degree in educational psychology from the University of Mary Hardin Baylor. In remarks Wood said she started July 1 and had the opportunity to shadow her predecessor before that person retired.

Jeremy Day was introduced as the coordinator of advanced academics. Staff said Day has more than 26 years of classroom and district leadership experience and most recently led advanced academics in Montgomery ISD. Day briefly addressed the board and thanked the district for the welcome.

Dr. Chelsea Best was introduced as the coordinator of school improvement; staff said she joins from another district and holds a doctorate in school leadership.

These introductions were informational recognitions; no formal board action was recorded on these personnel introductions.
