Human resources staff told the Sullivan County Human Resources Committee about recruitment, training and benefits developments at the committee meeting.
Julie, a human resources staff member, said the county has ‘‘successfully reinstated an additional 5 correction officers’’ and is processing more candidates through the pipeline. She provided counts of student interns: three from Monticello High School, two from Sullivan West High School, one from Tri‑Valley High School, one from Commonwealth University, one from SUNY Albany, one from Northeastern University and one from SUNY Morrisville.
Julie said the county rolled out a new free employee discount program called Working Advantage. The program emphasizes local discounts and the county met an enrollment goal that qualified staff to receive gift cards; the HR office will start distributing $25 gift cards beginning the Friday after the meeting. She also reported that the county used an exam on June 28 for the probation series (probation assistant, probation officer, senior probation officer) and that the next scheduled exam is Oct. 25 for County Clerk Worker 2.
From a risk management perspective, HR is awaiting proposals for the 2025–26 property and casualty insurance renewal from Arthur J. Gallagher. Staff completed a LENS audit (driver’s license verification) and identified county volunteers with out‑of‑state licenses; HR will request abstracts from Pennsylvania volunteers and reimburse the small cost to obtain those abstracts. Julie reported two new investigations since the prior meeting and four pending investigations.
Julie reminded the committee that county COVID pay ‘‘is sunsetting July 31’’ and said staff have been reminding employees about the program’s end.
