Votes at a glance: Nassau County Board of County Commissioners — July 16, 2025

At its July 16 meeting the Nassau County Board of County Commissioners approved two items and scheduled two public hearings.

Approved items

• Tab A — Proclamation recognizing Deborah Bradley on her retirement from the Nassau County Property Appraiser’s Office (motion by Commissioner McCullough; second by Commissioner Gray). Vote: aye/none opposed (board recorded as 4‑0; Commissioner Martin absent). The proclamation notes Bradley’s employment history and retirement effective July 31, 2025.

• Tab C — Authorize chairman to sign required certification forms related to the U.S. Department of Justice 2023 Edwin Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG), countywide application for drug eradication and special response team functions. Motion recorded; second by Commissioner Farmer. Vote: aye/none opposed (4‑0; Commissioner Martin absent).

Public hearings set (no final action taken July 16)

• Beach ordinance and Protected Species Management Plan — Board set a public hearing for Aug. 11 to consider proposed amendments to Chapter 23.5 (beach activity regulations), including proposed reduced vehicle hours during sea turtle nesting season and a 10‑foot conservation zone. No ordinance adopted July 16.

• CPACE (Commercial PACE) ordinance — County Attorney presented draft ordinance limited to commercial PACE and the board set a public hearing/possible adoption for July 28.

Roll call indicated Commissioners McCullough, Gray and Farmer present and Commissioner Martin absent; the chair was present. County staff, the county attorney and outside presenters participated in the meeting.
