Council appoints Richard Schaffner to Brushy Creek Regional Utility Authority board

The City Council unanimously appointed Richard Schaffner on Thursday to fill an unexpired citizen-director seat on the board of the Brushy Creek Regional Utility Authority.
Mayor Christine Delisle introduced Schaffner and described him as a Leander resident with a civil engineering background who works for the City of Austin. Delisle said Schaffner had previously engaged with city matters and had expressed interest in serving.
“...Richard ... has a civil engineering background and he works for the City of Austin,” the mayor said while recommending the appointment. Council moved, seconded and voted unanimously to confirm the appointment to the unexpired term that runs through June 30, 2026.
Staff said the seat became vacant after the passing of the previous long-serving citizen director and that Schaffner’s technical background was viewed as helpful to BCRUA’s work on regional water infrastructure.
