Bay County Veterans Affairs Committee members said the county's veterans transportation service has lost another driver and will operate only on Wednesdays and Thursdays until staffing is restored.
Committee members said the program had just one driver covering the current week and lost service on two other days. Staff warned the committee it may lose one more driver at some point, and that the office is working on a transition plan to maintain veterans' access to needed rides.
The reduced schedule currently affects county-operated runs; committee members said veterans still have other transportation options available in the community and that the office is coordinating with those providers to reduce disruption. Committee members said they will address the staffing shortfall as part of future planning for County Veterans Transportation.
The meeting did not produce a formal vote on transportation staffing. Committee members said staff will continue outreach and report back when further changes or solutions are identified.
