The Valley Center City Council on July 18 approved second reading of Ordinance 14‑27‑25 to annex a tract described in the ordinance that staff said will be developed for single‑family residential use.
City staff told the council the annexation request was made by the landowners and covers two tracks that will be consolidated in a future plat. Staff said an accompanying sketch plat will appear before the planning and zoning commission in July and a preliminary plat is expected in August. Staff also said city utilities can serve the two annexed tracks.
Council discussion included a question about a small section north near 90th Street that was not part of this annexation; staff explained that section is part of the adjacent Bob White subdivision and remains in county jurisdiction because current owners elected not to be annexed. Staff gave an approximate acreage for the annexed area as 30.494 acres (plus or minus).
The council voted to approve second reading. The motion carried with no recorded opposition.
Next steps: Staff said the developer will proceed with sketch and preliminary plats before planning and zoning. Final engineering, utility extension and plat consolidation will occur in subsequent planning steps.
