Kootenai County commissioners approved a purchase of approximately one year’s supply of alternative daily cover (posi shell) for the county landfill at a quoted total price of $36,506, during their July 15 amended business meeting.
John Phillips, director of the Solid Waste Department, told the board the product is used daily at the landfill to preserve airspace and extend the facility’s life. "The solid waste department is requesting your approval to move forward with the purchase of approximately 1 year's worth of alternative daily cover for the landfill. This is a product that we use almost every day at the landfill. It's necessary for operations and also for saving the landfill airspace and prolonging the life of the landfill," Phillips said.
Phillips told commissioners the department budgeted funds to cover the cost. The quoted total price, including shipping, was $36,506. The board moved to approve the purchase; the motion carried with the clerk recording the vote as passed.
