District technology curriculum specialist Matthew Howard described a planned switch from TeacherEase to Otis for elementary gradebook, report cards, and assessment functions; staff training and phased rollout were outlined and estimated annual savings were cited.
Matthew Howard, the Rogers School District technology curriculum specialist, told the board the district will replace TeacherEase with Otis for elementary gradebook, report card and assessment functions.
Howard said the district had contracted with TeacherEase for about three years but encountered limitations extracting and using assessment data. He described Otis as providing a gradebook, report card, an assessment portal that accepts multimedia submissions, assessment banks aligned to the district’s High Quality Instructional Materials, automatic syncing of assessment results to the gradebook, student and family dashboards, and customizable student plans for multi‑tiered supports, English‑learner goals, dyslexia growth plans and behavior plans.
Howard said the district expects the switch to save about $5,000 per year under the new three‑year contract and that training for coaches and teachers will occur at the academic kickoff before the system opens to parents. The dashboard for parents will not be opened immediately; Howard said he and Christy want teachers proficient before parents gain access. Board members expressed support and appreciation for the work on implementation.
No formal board vote was recorded; administration will manage procurement, training and rollout.
