Two residents used the public‑comment period at the Berwick Area School District meeting to press the district on governance and athletics facilities.
Travis Colvers of Salem Township said a policy committee meeting announced by the board “wasn't posted anywhere, and there's no agenda. It must be posted 24 hours according to the Sunshine Act,” and asked where the posting had been made. A district representative replied that the agenda was published in today’s Press Enterprise and posted on the district’s Facebook page earlier in the day.
Separately, Crystal Mikolowski raised Title IX concerns for female athletes and questioned whether facilities provide comparable locker rooms. She said the football program “is now using all three buildings, and locker rooms at Chris Mcfield. However, to my knowledge, softball, baseball, field hockey, and boys soccer them to use the boys locker room or an inadequate space could also be violating the law.” She urged the district to ensure teams have comparable facilities, noting budget constraints but asking that other teams receive at least one adequate locker space.
Board members did not take an immediate formal action during the public‑comment period; the transcript records the commenters’ concerns and the district response about where the policy committee agenda was posted. No resolution or directive addressing Title IX facility upgrades appears in the meeting record.
The board reiterated meeting scheduling: there will be no regular meeting next week; the next regular meeting is scheduled for Aug. 18 at 6:00 p.m.
