The board also discussed satellite career-center course fees; staff reported those recommended fees did not change from the prior year.
The board discussed how unpaid fees have been handled historically and directed staff to begin outreach earlier in the school year. A district representative said the district has historically allowed unpaid fees to accumulate and sometimes the final gatekeeper has been graduation; the new approach aims to notify families sooner and offer payment plans or other options. "We feel like we have a process in place that families know if they have fees they haven't paid at some point and try to start that discussion earlier," a district representative said.
Staff noted that families receiving free or reduced-price lunch have their fees waived. The district advised that families with questions about fees can contact school billing principals or the district office to discuss waivers or payment arrangements.
The board moved and approved the 2025-26 student fee schedule during the meeting.
