The City Council adopted Resolution 25‑31 approving agreements with the Los Angeles County Department of Aging and Disabilities to continue the Elderly Nutrition Program for fiscal year 2025‑26 and to accept a county subaward (ENP‑25‑2606).
Daniel Bridal, presenting for the department, told the council that the county provides funding for congregate and home‑delivered meal services; the staff recommendation was to accept the full grant of $1,221,800 for FY 2025‑26 and to approve a catering agreement with Trio Community in the amount of $700,000 for the same fiscal year. Bridal said the city operates two congregate meal sites (the senior center and the social services center) and provides 225 home‑delivered meals five days a week.
Bridal said the senior‑center roster is 1,330 applicants though daily attendance typically differs; staff reported serving about 200 seniors at the senior center and about 50 at the social‑services site on a typical day and delivering more than 120,000 meals in the last year. The program’s services include congregate dining, home delivery, homemaking, personal care, respite and case management, the presenter said.
Council members praised the program’s popularity and food quality; the motion to adopt the resolution passed on roll call.
