Two commissioners sworn in; council liaison reports ADU code amendment passed

At the July 15 meeting the commission administered oaths to Kelly Nielsen and Scott Shea and Councilmember Paul Watson reported the City Council had amended the municipal code on accessory dwelling units to reflect planning commission recommendations, including parking language.
The Syracuse Planning Commission on July 15 administered oaths of office to two recently appointed commissioners, Kelly Nielsen and Scott Shea. Heather Nelson administered the oath on the record; after repeating the oath both commissioners signed the oath documents.
Later in the meeting Paul Watson, the Syracuse City Council liaison to the planning commission, told commissioners the City Council had approved an amendment to the Syracuse Municipal Code pertaining to accessory dwelling units. "We did amend that per your recommendations, including some of that parking language that you guys added," Watson said. He reported that this was the principal planning-related item from the council’s most recent meeting.
City staff also reviewed upcoming items for the commission’s August meeting including site-plan and subdivision applications (Antelope Station, a site north of the Chevron station, Park West on the former RC Willey parking lot, the Salt Rock project and a proposed oil-change site) and a site-plan amendment for additional parking at the Glen Eagle reception center. Staff noted the status of applications is subject to updated submittals from applicants.
The oaths and liaison report were procedural items; the commission then moved on to public hearings and final plats scheduled on the agenda.
