Town attorney summary: council met in closed session to discuss certain economic development projects and provided general direction to staff; no official votes were taken. Council also met in closed session with the town attorney to discuss the upcoming performance-evaluation process for the town manager and town attorney; no official votes were taken on those personnel processes.
Earlier in the meeting staff introduced Morgan Pierce as the town’s new assistant town attorney. Town officials said Pierce recently worked in Orange County’s county attorney’s office and is a recent graduate of NC State and Campbell Law School. Pierce was publicly welcomed by the mayor and council members.
The meeting adjourned shortly after the closed-session report; staff said any necessary follow-up would be handled by the town attorney and manager’s office and brought to council as appropriate.
