Alderman Piper said the Housing Authority's next meeting is scheduled for the following morning at 9 a.m. and reported the commission discussed elevator repairs or replacement for equipment dating to the 1970s; one elevator has been out of service "for quite some time," the report said.
The Housing Authority is evaluating replacement because recent property sales affected available resources and because of the age and condition of the elevators. Alderman Piper said she will keep the council informed as the commission develops recommendations.
No formal council action was taken on this item during the meeting. The Housing Authority will continue its review at its next meeting and may bring a formal request to the council or include work in future capital planning if it decides to proceed.
