Council commends WGTE documentary "Magic of the Old West End" after Telly Award

The Toledo City Council on July 15 adopted Resolution 2-88-25 commending WGTE Public Media’s documentary "Magic of the Old West End" for winning a Telly Award and recognizing the Old West End neighborhood’s history.
The clerk read the resolution honoring the program for national recognition and praising the documentary's production team and neighborhood participants. Several council members offered remarks thanking WGTE for showcasing local history and applauding the film’s production, preservation work and community storytelling. Council members who identified as residents or former residents of the Old West End spoke about the documentary's value to neighborhood identity.
A WGTE representative accepted the recognition and thanked Old West End residents, program participants and WGTE staff. The representative noted the recent passing of Donna Chambers, a cast member, and said the documentary’s value in capturing community stories was evident because it preserved voices and histories that otherwise might have been lost.
The council adopted the resolution by unanimous recorded vote after a motion to suspend, and invited the WGTE team forward for photographs.
