Feek said the city engaged local artist Donna Harkett to restore the Recreation Park mural because of graffiti and paint chipping. He reported Sitaro Soneshi Park construction is moving quickly, with concrete and sidewalk-public-art work starting earlier than expected and an open call for public-art submissions. Feek also said the local In‑N‑Out restaurant project is moving at a "feverish pace," has received electricity and an inspector estimated opening within about 30 to 45 days.
On homelessness, Feek updated the council on Pathway Home, which he said continues to provide housing assistance and wraparound services to 53 people; he said "almost 50%" of those participants were Monrovia-based or have Monrovia connections. Pathway Home continues coordination with county partners and the city when openings are available for people seeking permanent supportive housing.
Feek reported Canyon Park continues to be "very successful" and noted staff and first responders have already attended to visitors for heat-related or minor-injury incidents since the park reopened. Council members raised a resident concern about reservation-confirmation glitches for weekend reservations at Canyon Park; Feek asked that specific reports be shared with him or Community Services Director Tina Cherry so staff can investigate.
