At the start of the business portion of the meeting the mayor asked if any items should be pulled from the consent calendar; a council member moved to approve CC1–CC13 and another member seconded. The mayor said the items were approved "without objection." The staff did not read details of each consent item on the record; the items were categorized as routine and adopted together.
On scheduling, staff explained there was a conflict between the council’s regular August 5 meeting and National Night Out. Staff said the council cannot move a regular meeting to an earlier time and therefore proposed adjourning the regular meeting to a special/continuation meeting on Aug. 5 at 5:00 p.m., allowing council members to also attend National Night Out later that evening. The mayor encouraged residents to attend the National Night Out events.
