Irmo announces summer and fall community events, senior services and district "Golden Pass" sign-ups

Town staff on July 15 highlighted a slate of upcoming community events and services for Irmo residents, including senior opportunities, district sporting and cultural events, and fall festivals.

Announcements included sign-ups for the Lexington-Richland School District Five Golden Pass for residents who will be 60 during the 2025–26 school year; distribution will occur July 22 (1–4 p.m.) and July 23 (9 a.m.–noon) at the district office at 1020 Dutch Fork Road. Staff also listed a town fundraiser and yard sale by the Irmo Fire Foundation on July 26 at Union United Methodist Church and an Irmo Christmas parade planning meeting on July 30 at Craft and Draft; the parade is scheduled for Dec. 6.

Other items: several back-to-school events hosted by the Richland County Recreation Commission including an Irmo location on Aug. 1 at Friarsgate Park; an "Irmo Murders and Mysteries" walking tour on Aug. 1 at Moore Park hosted by the Lexington County Museum; National Night Out on Aug. 5 at Moore Park; a story time with the mayor on Aug. 12 at the Prisma Health Amphitheater at Moore Park; and a trunk-or-treat planned for Oct. 31 at Moore Park. Staff also noted a nonemergency senior-transportation program available to District Five residents and that vendor, exhibitor and volunteer applications are open for the 50th Irmo Okra Strut set for Sept. 26–27.
