Mecklenburg County Public Schools administrators reintroduced the division strategic plan and discussed how baseline data will be tracked over the coming five years.
Doctor Caraway presented the plan and told the board the administration expects to track progress annually for the next five years. When a board member asked about the baseline period, Caraway said baseline data for each cardinal direction generally uses the 2023–24 school year, except for the cardinal direction related to communications; that communications baseline is being collected now via an online survey. Board members were urged to complete the communication survey.
A board member asked how growth in Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs will be measured because the plan lists absolute numbers rather than percentages. Caraway answered that the division will track measurable data such as earned certificates and growth in work-based programs year to year, using consistent definitions so trends can be observed even when a particular business host is not accepting students in a given year.
The strategic plan presentation was informational; the board asked clarifying questions about metrics and agreed to participate in the communication survey.
