School board approves multiple items including naming of road at Clarksville elementary and ESSER supplemental appropriation

The Mecklenburg County Public Schools Board of Education on an evening roll call approved a bundle of routine and action items, including the naming of a roadway at the new Clarksville Elementary School, a supplemental appropriation of ESSER funds for maintenance, personnel actions and a student-discipline recommendation.

Board members voted unanimously to certify a closed meeting and to approve the consent agenda and payment of bills. A motion to name the access drive “Lucille Lane” at the new Clarksville Elementary School passed on a roll-call vote after no members signed up for the public hearing. The board also approved a supplemental appropriation to use ESSER (Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief) funds for maintenance work and approved personnel recommendations covering employments, resignations, retirements, transfers, supplements and adjustments.

Separately, the board supported the discipline committee recommendation in student matter SD 2024202508; the transcript states the motion was to expel a student “for 306 5 days” and the motion passed on roll call. The board approved deeming the wet serving lines at the secondary schools as surplus and moved to surplus those cafeteria serving lines. Motions to approve bills presented by committee and to adjourn the meeting also passed.
