Council OKs preliminary plat for Bennington Fire substation site

The Omaha City Council on July 7 approved a preliminary plat for a roughly 3.5-acre parcel at the southwest corner of 170th and State Street intended for a Bennington Suburban Fire Protection District substation. The Planning Board and Planning Department recommended approval.
Attorney Jim Lang represented the Bennington Suburban Fire Protection District and said the board’s president, Ben Teiser, accompanied him. Lang said the substation is planned to serve growth in the northwest portion of the county; construction was projected in about four to five years. He added Omaha Fire had been consulted and found the location acceptable.
No opponents spoke at the public hearing. The council voted 7-0 on a roll call to approve the preliminary plat. The district will continue working with city planning and building departments as design and financing are finalized.
