The City of Madison Finance Committee on July 15 unanimously adopted Legistar 88800, a one-year labor agreement between the City of Madison and the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE).
Committee members moved and seconded the motion and recorded a unanimous vote in favor. Alder Oliver Rivera raised a procedural and drafting concern, noting the agreement is an annual, one-year contract and saying, "Since Act 10, we need to adopt this annually." Rivera urged staff to update Article 2's dated language, which in the current document suggests the Overture Center remains a city agency and references Local 60 as a collective bargaining unit for city employees.
Alder Eller was thanked by the presiding officer after the point was raised. Staff from labor relations were present and the mayor indicated the comment would be noted for the next bargaining cycle.
No amendments to the agreement were proposed in committee and no public speakers addressed the item. The committee recorded the adoption and concluded its agenda.
