Storey County commissioners on July 15 authorized the county manager to approve and sign a one-year contract with Silver State Government Relations for lobbying and government-affairs services at $10,000 per month from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026.
County Administration Officer Lisa Massell presented the contract renewal and noted two scoped additions: consultation on Marlette Water System matters and quarterly interim legislative updates during the 2025'26 interim. Austin Husband (spelled in the transcript as Austin Husband), who spoke in support, said the firm had been instrumental during the last legislative session, including help drafting Senate Bill 69 and watching developments in the governor's office.
Will Adler, founder and principal at Silver State Government Relations, addressed the board and outlined priority issues staff and the firm would monitor, including Highway 80 funding and land bills and regional boundary questions with neighboring counties. Commissioners praised the firm's interim and session work and approved the contract; Commissioner Mitchell moved and the motion passed unanimously.
County staff said the arrangement continues the existing relationship with the firm and does not change the monthly fee; the updated scope attachments capture the two new consultation responsibilities.
