Storey County signs record of survey to adjust parcels and convey land to school district for K'12 consolidation

Storey County commissioners on July 15 approved a boundary line adjustment that conveys land from the county to the Storey County School District to support consolidation of kindergarten through 12th grade on one campus.
Kathy Canfield, staff working with the district and surveyor, explained the adjustment covers three existing parcels and will leave three parcels after reconfiguration. As part of the approval, the county will retain one parcel currently associated with the county transfer station until an alternate transfer site can be located; the school district has indicated it would like that parcel in the future.
Superintendent Joe Gerner thanked the commission for the action and for staff work that resolved a shortfall of land earlier in the project. "It is going to be amazing for our community and our kids for a long time to come," Gerner said during public comment.
The motion to approve was made by Commissioner Mitchell and passed unanimously. County staff said the record of survey and associated documents will be signed to effect the conveyance.
