Commissioners nominate trustees and board members; several appointments moved to consent agenda

Mister Trout presented information on appointments to the Central Carolina Community College (CCCC) Board of Trustees. Trustees Jim Bergen's and Gordon Springle's terms expired June 30, 2025; the county is entitled to a one-year appointment and a three-year appointment beginning July 1, 2025, to create staggered terms. Trout described residency and eligibility restrictions (not members of the General Assembly, residency within the college's administrative area or contiguous counties, not employed by the college within the last five years nor immediate family of current full-time employees).
Commissioners nominated Brooks Matthews for the one-year term and Gina Morris for the remaining three-year term; both names were moved forward for approval and placed on the consent agenda.
Separately, the board reviewed applications for other local boards and councils. Commissioners moved the following recommendations to the consent agenda: Carl H. Johnson (at-large for District 4), Lamuel (L.D.) Black (District 2), Derrick Williams (Juvenile Crime Prevention Council, District 3) and Sharon Booker (District 2). The items were directed to be included on the next consent agenda for formal action.
