Commissioners remove Workforce Board from consent agenda, approve remainder of consent items

At its July meeting the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners approved a motion to amend the agenda to remove the Workforce Board item from the consent agenda, and then approved the remainder of the consent agenda.

A commissioner moved to amend the agenda to remove the Workforce Board from the consent agenda; Commissioner Jeff moved the amendment and Commissioner Steve Taylor seconded. The chair called for discussion and the amendment was approved.

The consent agenda approved afterward included: approval of minutes for June 12 and June 17; the energy programs outreach plan; approval of tax abatements; the annual tax settlement for fiscal year ending 2025; charge to the tax collector; designation of the chairman as voting delegate at the NCACC annual conference; reappointment of Dolan Corbett to the jury commission; reappointment of Lucio Rodriguez to the JCPC; appointment of Phil Kissel to the library board; the registered Deach Report; and related routine items as listed in the board packet. A motion to approve the consent agenda was moved by Commissioner Jeff, seconded by Commissioner Steve Taylor, and the board recorded the approval. The meeting record notes there were no public forum signups for this session.

The packet also included a resolution honoring Kathy Garner Smith, recently retired from the Department of Social Services; the resolution was shared at the meeting but Smith was not present. No additional formal actions or budget decisions were taken at the meeting.
