Council adopts SB 1 project list, prioritizes chip sealing and carries Mount Shasta Boulevard overlay as optional

Public works staff presented the city’s SB 1 (Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017) project list at the July 14 council meeting and recommended adoption of a proposed set of projects for the fiscal year. Ken Kellogg told the council the projected RMRA (Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation Account) allocation for FY2025–26 is about $85,000.
Staff said the projects largely carry over from the prior year and that the priority work is chip sealing (often performed with county road crews); staff explained the county was unable to assist last year because of equipment and staffing constraints but would likely be able to do so this year. The proposed project list also includes Mount Shasta Boulevard overlay as an option should additional funding be available.
Council adopted the resolution listing FY2025–26 projects to spend SB 1/RMRA funds; staff said they anticipate proceeding with chip sealing work and will use the adopted list to apply the RMRA allocation.
Ending: The council adopted Resolution CCR-25-O6 (project list for SB 1 funds); staff will proceed with chip-sealing projects and assess feasibility of additional overlay work depending on available funds and county support.
