Council approves updated Waste Management service agreement; city will begin collecting 4% franchise fee

Melissa and city staff described the transition and customer communications planned to implement new billing processes and card rollouts; staff also said the city will receive a 4 percent franchise fee under the agreement and that previous franchise fee receipts had not consistently been recorded to the general fund. Waste Management and staff said the parties worked monthly over several months to coordinate the agreement and communications.
Council voted to approve the contract amendments and resumption of the updated service agreement. The vote was taken by voice; the motion passed and council thanked staff and the vendor for the collaborative implementation work.
