Seaman High runner Ryan Miller honored at Seaman USD 345 board meeting for state and national achievements

The Seaman USD 345 Board of Education recognized Seaman High student-athlete Ryan Miller at its July 14 meeting for a series of state and national accomplishments in cross-country and track.

Coach Rick Braiding (introduced by board members as the high-school girls' track and field coach) presented Miller's achievements: Miller was named the 2024–25 United Kansas Conference runner of the year in cross country and track, holds Seaman High School records in multiple events (400, 800, 1,600 and 3,200 meters), and was described by the coach as the fastest 3,000-meter runner in Kansas high-school history based on the all-time list recited during the meeting. Miller was also noted as a double Kansas Relays champion (1,600 and 3,200 meters), a state champion in the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 meters in the listed season, a two-time Kansas Gatorade girls track and field player of the year (also cross-country Gatorade runner of the year), and selected for the Nike Elite track team, which the coach said includes only 20 female high-school athletes nationally.

Ryan Miller spoke briefly, thanking her coach, parents and teammates and said she planned to continue running and study kinesiology with a business minor in college. Board members offered congratulations and presented a trophy recognizing outstanding achievement.

Why it matters: The recognition highlights an individual student's athletic and academic accomplishments and publicly acknowledges the district's programs and coaching staff.
