Parks staff presented a preliminary fiscal year 2025 closeout for the Park Enterprise Fund, reporting about $69,000 in excess carryover before administrative adjustments.
The figures presented to the Park Commission on July 10 were described as substantially correct but not final; staff said the budget will not be finalized until September. The presentation showed overages in repairs and maintenance (buildings, grounds, vehicles and equipment) but offset by stronger utility reimbursements and other revenue. Staff said retained earnings and some timing differences explain how the fund balances out.
Commissioners noted that indirect charges and liability insurance (set fees applied by the town) had not yet been applied to the numbers; staff said applying those charges would reduce the carryover to roughly $60,000. Commissioners also discussed that last year's roof work had been paid from last year's budget and that $15,000 that planned for capital would be reversed into retained earnings in FY26.
Overall, staff said the fund appears to be in healthy shape but that final accounting adjustments and timing of revenues (for example, lodge payments) will change the final carryover figure.
Peter, who assembled the figures, responded to commission questions about outstanding invoices and specific line items during the presentation.
