The Town of Lakeville Park Commission voted to charge $1 per person per class for an outdoor boot‑camp taught by Courtney Beating, starting this season.
Beating, a Lakeville resident who has been running Sunday morning classes and is seeking to add Wednesday evenings, told commissioners she has averaged six to eight participants and plans a 5:30 p.m. Wednesday class with setup and breakdown time before and after the class. "I'm only charging $8 a class to keep it very affordable," Beating said during the July 10 meeting. She said she will continue to offer drop‑in rates, multi‑class packages and a free first class for new participants.
Commissioners discussed how the town has handled other small vendors and user groups in the past and whether to create a new fee category for activities that are not part of organized leagues. After a short discussion about prior choices (the commission recalled letting a vendor use town fields free for an introductory period), a motion was made and seconded to charge $1 per person per class. The commission voted in favor by voice vote; the chair announced the motion passed.
The commission asked staff to collect the instructor's Facebook link and website so the town can link to it on the commission's pages. Beating said she already posts a waiver on her website and requires participants to register in advance.
Commissioners indicated the $1-per-person fee will be applied consistently to similar small, drop‑in programs and will be revisited in future fee reviews.
Courtney Beating introduced the proposal during the public‑programs portion of the meeting; commissioners took the fee vote that same night.
