Grounds service issues resolved; Smithville and Windsor tracks and tennis courts completed, board told

Operations director Dr. Coleman told the board on July 10 that recent grounds and maintenance backlogs have been addressed after contractor staffing issues and that multiple athletic facility projects are complete.
Coleman said several citizens had contacted him about overgrown grass and that ABM, the contractor, had staffing and personnel problems; the division arranged additional ABM crews and the grounds work is now “back on track.” He confirmed the septic-field mowing at Carsville was completed the day of the meeting.
Coleman also reported that Smithville High and Windsor High track upgrades are finished and that both schools’ tennis courts are complete. The superintendent and board discussed holding ribbon-cutting events at each school this fall; staff member Miss Briggs is coordinating community events and invited the Board of Supervisors and community to attend.
The board did not take formal action; staff said they will schedule community ribbon cuttings and provide event details when available.
