Town forwards request to county and GBNRTC for Stony Point–Ransom traffic study after missing memo

The Traffic Safety Advisory Board discussed a long-pending request for a traffic study of the Stony Point–Ransom corridor and confirmed that the town has now sent a letter to initiate the county review and to request assistance from the Greater Buffalo Niagara Regional Transportation Council (GBNRTC).
Members said a memo and request first originated in September 2023 and was discussed again in November 2023, but that the board never received a copy of a required memo or a record that the county had been contacted. Several members said they had asked the prior liaison for the memo and had not received it. At the meeting, Jose reported that he had written and sent the letter to the supervisor directing the town attorney to contact Erie County and GBNRTC, and said the town clerk had searched its records and confirmed the previous memo had not been filed.
Members said the study is needed because development behind a local gas station and the connection to high-school traffic may increase demand at the corridor. The board expects the town engineer to follow up with county staff or GBNRTC and report results to the advisory board. The board also noted a three-month moratorium on building at the Southpointe site while the town checks conditions at the sewage treatment plant; that moratorium remains in effect pending EPA and county reviews, board members said.
