The Los Angeles City Council reported back from closed session with two settlement votes on legal matters.
The council accepted a $300,000 payment in the matter titled Anthony Escobar et al. v. May Company Department Stores; the motion recorded 13 ayes when tallied. The record notes this amount will be received by the city.
The council also approved a settlement in Cabral v. City of Los Angeles in the amount of $800,000 to be paid by the city; that motion recorded 12 ayes on the roll call. Council members made the votes in open session following the closed-session deliberations and instructed staff to effect the settlements.
