Muhlenberg County board approves termination of architect agreement for Longest Elementary, will advertise new RFP

Board Member Johar moved to terminate the agreement; Board Member Bard seconded the motion. The board approved the motion by voice vote. Chairman Reager then introduced item b, asking the board to authorize advertising a request for proposals for architectural or engineering services to replace the terminated agreement. "With the termination of the above agreement, we'll need to, advertise for, new proposals for the project," Chairman Reager said. A motion to advertise the RFP was moved and seconded and approved by voice vote.
During discussion, Board Member Bard clarified that projects already under construction will remain with the current architectural firm, which the board identified as Summit, because another firm would not assume liability for work already underway. "The ones that we already have under construction ... those have to stay with Summit because they're already under construction and another, architect firm would not be willing to take on that liability. So those will stay with Summit," Bard said. The board said the advertising action applies to the new projects tied to the terminated agreement, not to in-progress construction.
