Spokesperson Steph said the day's theme, “empowering young people to create families they want in a fair and hopeful world,” reaffirms the commitments of the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development and the U.N. urged governments to support related policies.
The U.N. also noted that Dr. Natalia Khanum, executive director of UNFPA, will deliver remarks on behalf of the secretary-general at the 2025 U.N. population awards and that two laureates were selected by the awards committee for individual and institutional contributions to reproductive health and solutions.
