The Somerville City Council elected Councilor Lance Davis as council president and Councilor Wilma Baugh as vice president for the remainder of 2025 during its July 10 meeting.
Councilor Ba nominated Davis for president. The clerk called the roll after nominations closed; the council announced, “With 7 votes, councilor Davis is the new president of the city council for the remainder of 2025.”
After Davis was sworn in, he presided and opened nominations for vice president. Councilor Wilson nominated Councilor Wilma Baugh. The clerk conducted a roll call and the council announced, “With 7 votes, Councilor Baugh is the vice president of his council for the remainder of 2025.”
Both elections were conducted by roll call vote with a quorum present; the council recorded seven members present and three absent at the start of the meeting. The elections were taken early in the agenda; no further substantive action was taken in connection with the leadership votes.
