AC Transit to realign bus network Aug. 10; plan includes extension to Bayside Newark development

Diane Castleberry, external affairs representative for AC Transit, told the council that after a two-year review and public participation process the agency will implement a realigned bus network on Aug. 10. "We are very pleased to announce that the new transit realigned bus network will go into effect on August 10," Castleberry said.
Castleberry said information on the service changes will be centralized on actransit.org, will be posted on buses, displayed at BART stations and transit centers, and distributed via e-newsletters and social media. She said ambassadors will be at bus stops in the community in the weeks before Aug. 10 to assist riders and that printed brochures with line-by-line information will be provided.
She told the council the plan includes an extension of one line to serve the Bayside Newark development and that AC Transit is working with city staff to install the necessary stops. "We are working with city staff to try to, address all the issues to get those bus stops in place," Castleberry said. She left copies of a system overview map and said brochures with specific line changes for the area will be sent to the city clerk.
