Lieutenant Charles Harris, speaking on behalf of Chief Hobbs and the Centreville Police Department, presented the department's June overview at the July 10 council meeting.
Harris reported five arrests in June, consisting of one on-view arrest and four criminal summons/warrant-related arrests; officers issued about 191 motor-vehicle warnings, 29 non-arrestable citations, 18 safety-equipment repair orders and conducted roughly 280 business and residential patrol checks. The department responded to approximately 700 calls for service, including assaults/domestics, thefts, traffic accidents and welfare checks; the report lists 3 assaults (domestics), 6 thefts, 7 traffic accidents and multiple assists to other agencies.
Harris also summarized special assignments and training: a defensive-tactics instructor supported recruit and firearms training at the regional academy; a department sergeant attended an FBI executive leadership course; and officers participated in community events, including an officer-appreciation day and interactions with school field days. Harris said there was nothing unusually notable beyond routine activity during the month.
