County approves VoIP phone upgrade; chairman breaks tie after one abstention

The board accepted a one-time cost of $17,224.41 to be paid from the county's SPLOST 7 funds and an estimated recurring monthly cost of $1,363.51 to be budgeted in the general fund. The technology director and the chairman were authorized to finalize contract details and have the county attorney review the agreement before execution.
Commissioner Clyde abstained from the vote; the chairman cast the tie-breaking vote in favor of the contract. Commissioners said the upgrade would replace 25 phones and is expected to pay for itself in about two years.
The vendor will proceed to finalize terms with county staff and the county attorney before the chairman signs the final agreement.
