Lincoln County approves senior nutrition grant and 90-day transportation contract

The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners on July 10 approved two items aimed at senior services: a cooperative agreement with the CSRA Regional Commission for the senior citizen nutrition program and an emergency 90-day subcontract for coordinated transportation.
The board accepted the FY 2026 cooperative agreement with the CSRA Regional Commission and the Area Agency on Aging, a reimbursement grant totaling $78,669 with a local match of $5,899. The grant funds the county's provision of meals for seniors who attend senior-center activities; commissioners said the local match is budgeted in the general fund and authorized the chairman to sign the agreement.
The commission also approved an emergency subcontractor agreement with the Heart of Georgia Altamaha Regional Commission to provide coordinated transportation services for senior citizens from July 2025 through September 2025. County staff described the arrangement as a fixed-rate contract with no guaranteed volume; commissioners authorized the chairman to execute the 90-day agreement.
Both actions were approved by voice vote.
