Council approves professional services contract for annual audit and single-audit work

The Idaho Falls City Council on July 10 authorized a professional services contract to perform the city's fiscal year 2025 comprehensive annual audit and associated single-audit work.

Municipal Services Director Ken Alexander told the council the contract is a renewal year under a multi-year proposal and will cover the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2025. "The total amount of the contract is $196,425," Alexander said, describing a $160,425 base price plus additional fees of about $12,000 per program for single-audit work tied to federal expenditures.

Alexander said the single-audit programs covered in the contract include the federal SAFER grant, ARPA funds, the transit program and the airport program. "The requirement for the single audits is if you have expenditures of $750,000 or more," he said.

Council members asked about the audit timeline. Alexander said field work would begin Jan. 12, 2026, and extend through Jan. 30, 2026, with a completed audit report expected by March 30, 2026, and a February status update to the council.

Councilors moved and seconded the motion to approve the professional services contract and authorize the mayor to sign. The city clerk conducted a roll-call vote; the motion carried.
