Council approves Eagle Scout kiosk for mountain-bike trails, offers materials support

The Price City Council granted approval July 9 for an Eagle Scout project to install a trail kiosk for the city’s mountain-bike trail network, with the structure planned near the baseball field. Samuel Wilson, identified himself as the Eagle Scout candidate, described a wooden kiosk with plexiglass front, a corrugated roof and removable map panel to accommodate future updates.

Wilson said the kiosk will be built with a 4x4 wooden frame, have a plexiglass cover rather than glass for durability, and use corrugated metal or PVC roofing. He estimated the total materials cost for the build at about $200 and asked the council and public works for help in acquiring wood or funds to purchase lumber.

Council members moved and seconded approval of the project location and the request for assistance (motion moved by Council member Jesperson, seconded by Council member Miller). The motion passed by voice vote; council instructed the scout to coordinate specific resource needs with staff after the meeting and to provide a signed acceptance of the project for the city files.

Family members and local rodeo supporters attended the meeting to recognize a separate youth achievement; the scout’s mother and others spoke in support of the kiosk plan. Staff said the placement is shown on project maps provided to council and the city will confirm permitting and siting details with public works before construction.

Council approval included direction to follow city procedures and for staff to work with the scout on materials or donations as available.
