Court confirms several appointments, renomination and one failed vote in executive session

After returning from executive session, Harris County Commissioners Court recorded several formal appointment actions.

Reappointment to Harris County Finance Corporation: County Judge Lina Hidalgo moved to reappoint Dwight Jefferson to the Harris County Finance Corporation (agenda item 247); the court approved the reappointment for a term ending June 26, 2027. The motion carried on the record; the vote was announced as carried 4‑0.

Central Appraisal District nomination (HCAD): A nomination for the Central Appraisal District board (agenda item 242) to appoint Tracy Jones was put forward and seconded on the record. The court recorded opposition from two members who cited concerns about outreach and a perceived affiliation; the nomination failed on a 2‑2 vote, producing no appointment for that ballot slot at that time.

Subsequent nomination and appointment: Following the failed nomination, a motion to nominate Martina Levon Dixon for the same appraisal district seat was made, seconded and carried unanimously on the record. Court minutes show commissioners noted prior outreach between Ms. Dixon and multiple commissioners during nomination consideration.

Administrative notes: The court described other executive session items as informational only (no action) where noted on the agenda and clarified that several appointments (items 238–241, 246 and 248) would be approved as presented on consent. Where staff reported “no action” after closed session discussions, the court recorded those outcomes on the public agenda.
